I Am Number Four

I Am Number Four
by Pittacus Lore

John Smith, or so he is called in Paradise, Ohio, is not a normal teenager. For one, he is an alien. His home planet Lorien was destroyed, so 18 Loriens travelled to Earth. Two, he is being hunted down by other aliens. There are nine Loriens with power, and nine guardiens. Each team needs to be separated. Each Lorien with powers has a number. As long as all the teams stay separated, the evil aliens can only kill them in number order.

John and his guardien Henri, who pretends to be his father, have never really had problems moving from city to city. But in Paradise, Ohio, John meets Sarah Hart, who soon becomes his girlfriend. He also made a friend named Sam. But Sarah's old boyfriend Mark James, is out to destroy John's life! Oh and one more thing, John is Number Four. He is next. Read the book to find out what happens!

I reccomend this book to anyone who likes sci-fi or adventure. The beginning might seem like it's moving slow, but just wait until you get to the end!

The Fault In Our Stars

The Fault In Our Stars
by John Green

Hazel is not your average sixteen year old girl. She got cancer when she was thirteen. She no longer attends formal school and her mother stays home with her all day, everyday.

Hazel's mother makes her attend a support group for teenagers with cancer. There she meets him: Augustus Waters. After several minutes of staring at each other, Augustus invited Hazel over, and so it began.

This is not a typical cancer struggle love story. The times, good and bad, that Hazel and Gus go through are extraordinary. Read this to go on Hazel's adventure of  Humor, heart-break, and romance.

Divergent

I just finished the book Divergent and its sequel Insurgent by Veronica Roth. The story is about a girl, Tris, who lives in a dystopian Chicago where everyone is divided into 5 factions. The factions are Abnegation, Candor, Amity, Erudite, and Dauntless. When children reach the age of 16, they choose the faction to which they will forever be committed. Forever and Always. The Abnegation are committed to selflessness, the Candor must always be honest, The Amity are peaceful, Erudite are always intelligent, and the Dauntless are never cowards but always brave. At first Tris struggles with what faction she wants to be in: Abnegation where she was born or Dauntless where she thinks could be the best place for her. Once she picks, she realizes that all the factions have their own little secrets...and they aren't what they're cracked up to be...

Have You Met Your Match?

Hey, Readers,

I just finished this one and LOVED it!  I know a few of you are reading it, too, so I would love to hear your thoughts.  I will say that I liked it just as much as Hunger Games and, while there is no fight to the death in this book, Cassia Reyes society is depriving her and breaking her down in different ways.

Enjoy!

Life As We Knew It

The book, Life As We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer is for the people who love reading books about dystopian societies. In this book, the main character, Miranda, lives in New York state and one night witnesses, like most everyone else, an asteroid colliding with the moon, changing life as they knew it (hence the title). The world is thrown into chaos when the moon moves closer in orbit, drastically changing Earth's climate. Disease and starvation strike and the world seems to have come to an end. Little do Miranda and her family realize that the worst has yet to arrive...

I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for something so compelling that they won't be able to put down. It is one of my favorites! Told in Miranda's diary entries, it is a story if hardship, survival, but most importantly the love and support that can only be provided by a family that truly cares for each other.

That Was Then, This Is Now

When you saw this, I bet you thought of the Katy Perry song. Well, you're wrong. This is a book written by S.E. Hinton, the same woman who wrote The Outsiders. I started this book Saturday morning, and finished it that night. I couldn't put it down. That Was Then, This Is Now is about two kids, Bryon and Mark, who have been bet friends forever. They tell everyone that they are brothers, which is not a total lie; they live together because Mark doesn't have parents. But, as time goes on, Bryon notices something weird happening to Mark. He is acting different and is pulling away. When Bryon starts becoming serious about his girlfriend, he notices that Mark is acting jealous and doesn't seem too crazy about Cathy (Bryon's girlfriend). Then Bryon comes home and, hoping to find a cigarette and knowing where to find one, looks under Mark's mattress. There he makes a big discovery that he thinks may have put Cathy's brother, M&M, in the hospital. Bryon has to make a big choice: stay loyal to his brother, or turn him in. This book has some of the characters from The Outsiders: Ponyboy Curtis, Tim Shephard, and Curly Shephard. While they are not main characters, they are important. To see how the whole story unfolds, read the book!

Get Ready For Chaos!

Not to long ago I read a book called Absolutely Normal Chaos by Sharon Creech. The main character in this book is a minor character from another one of her books, Walk Two Moons. Absolutely Normal Chaos is about a girl named Mary Lou Finney, and she is writing about what she did over the summer for school. At first, she isn't thrilled about it. She also isn't thrilled about her cousin Carl Ray coming for the summer. Then, out of nowhere, her neighbor died. But the biggest surprise of all is losing her best friend and starting to like Alex Cheevey, who has been her schoolmate for as long as she can remember. To hear all of her stories, read Absolutely Normal Chaos by Sharon Creech!
